2014 IN REVIEW

2014. The last 12 months really have been the most incredible yet. Not only was I lucky enough to start working as a full time photographer, but I was also incredibly honoured to get to know over a dozen couples, that I’m now lucky enough to call my friends. I photographed weddings, styled shoots, engagements, shared coffees with new friends, wine with old ones and worked my butt off…loving every second of it! Before I get into my intentions for 2015, I’d love to share with you some of the amazing moments that made 2014 the best yet.

1. Nick + I moved closer to Brisbane and out of ‘the shoebox’

When we first moved up to Brisbane (from our first home together in Newcastle) there were a few things we didn’t know much about. Like, which suburbs are nice and which are ‘somewhat questionable’. Well, we happened to chose the latter, but made the most of it, saving heaps of coin being that it was SO cheap (alarm bell number 1: if a property is really cheap to rent, there is probably a reason why!) So in Feb this year, we moved into a lovely townhouse near North Lakes, just north of Brisbane, it even has two bathrooms. Winning!

2. In 2014, I photographed 11 amazingly beautiful weddings!

Having been working full time for an insurance company up until late October, I was careful with how many weddings I committed to (being that I always want to apply 110% of myself to each and every couple) so to photograph 11 weddings was fabulous. This also meant that I edited over 8,800 images, one by one. Wow, maybe I shouldn’t have done that maths on that one…

I am SO excited as already I have way more than that booked in for 2015… it’s going to be a great year!

3. I tripped off to the Whitsunday’s with Nicks family!

For the second year in a row, Nick & I joined his family for a week sailing the Whitsundays. IT. WAS. AMAZING. Highlight of the trip for me, was on the very last day unfortunately the weather was a little miserable. Drizzling and grey. Regardless, Nick and I decided to jump in and go for one last snorkel with his dad & uncle… and got to swim with a HUGE but beautiful green turtle for ages. A good 20 minutes, we swam alongside it, while it just cruised around. It was amazing.

4. I quit my 9am-5pm job to pursue my photography dream!

One of the most exciting yet scary decisions I’ve had to make so far! I quit my secure 9-5 office job, to give my photography business my full attention and do something I love! It has now been 3 months already and I am LOVING it. Sure, there were times that I freaked out about at the start (and occasionally still do!) but it is worth it. I am having the time of my life and it’s all because of you! Thank you for your support, the posts that you like on my Facebook page, every word that you read on my blog, the friends & family that you tell about me, the pictures that you let me take. I couldn’t do this without you.

5. My little brother got married!

In October 2014, my little brother married the love of his life. It was a beautiful thing. Honoured to be in the wedding party as one of Cassie’s bridesmaids, I got to participate in the day as it unfolded. From the girly morning get ready to the crazy dancing at the end of the night. It was wonderful to be in every moment, to soak it all up – without the presence of my camera. I will forever hold the memories from this day close to my heart…

SO…. what does 2015 hold?

There are a few things already that I cannot wait for including 3 amazing trips (2 of those for international weddings!) I just know this is going to be the best year yet, and I thought 2014 was going to be hard to beat!!!

What about you gorgeous? Are you getting married in 2015? Are you also tripping overseas? Make sure you spend every second of the new year, enjoying it to the full! Life is too short.

Big Love, K x
