Netball & I have a little bit of a love/hate relationship… leaning more towards the hate side if I’m honest. I have only played it a handful of times over the years and in every single game, I either hurt myself or drop the ball and miss out on points for my team. Even at school I was never much of a team sport player – I just never felt good enough, athletic enough, so I never really tried – instead I opted to read or hang out in the art room (yes, total nerd alert I know!)
For Pete & Aimee though, they have a lot to thank the game of netball for… it was this team sport that helped Aimee invite Pete to play and score much more than a goal or two – she used it as an excuse to get his number and years later, the rest as they say is history. Pete & Aimee became husband & wife last Saturday at Branell Homestead in a beautiful country wedding and I was lucky enough to document it for them.
Here’s a glimpse into their Wedding Day story that unfolded at Branell Homestead:
WEDDING CEREMONY VENUE: BRANELL HOMESTEAD, LAIDLEY
Aimee & Pete’s wedding day started grey & rainy but by lunchtime the sun was shining and the clouds cleared… When I arrived at the homestead, Aimee, her bridesmaids and mum were all getting their hair & makeup done, so I started photographing Aimee’s gorgeous bridal details!
Aimee hired my cousin Kimmy (who is a super talented florist) to take care of her florals for the day – I had no idea until a few weeks before when I was gathering all the vendors details and saw her business name – The Little Flower Stall – listed… it made the day extra special for me!
Branell Homestead also has an intimate library space – that made the perfect spot for hanging Aimee’s stunning wedding dress & gown and for her to get dressed with her bridesmaids…
Their wedding ceremony took place under the blue country sky, on the lawns of the homestead. Such a picture perfect spot with the orchard in the background!
The moment everyone had been waiting for – the gorgeous bride being walked down the aisle by her father, Eddie – to her awaiting groom, Pete.
After a lovely ceremony, we snuck off with the bridal party for some portraits around the property. Branell Homestead has so much to choose from – it really is a photographers dream!
We then took the newlyweds into one of the paddocks for some golden hour portraits (golden hour is the hour before sunset that is just so pretty! It’s my favourite time of the day – and with good reason!)
How cute are these two?! You should have heard how excited I was about this sunset – I was making all kinds of excited squeals! I can never hide my excitement, nor would I want to, it makes my couples laugh & relax hearing me squeal like a crazy person!
We also had time for a couple photos on the Branell Homestead jetty – before it was time for Aimee & Pete to join their guests in the Reception!
WEDDING RECEPTION VENUE: BRANELL HOMESTEAD, LAIDLEY
The reception pavilion at Branell Homestead is SO lovely – with the view onto the lake and festoon lights on the grassed area below…
After the newly married couple entered into their Reception, they were able to celebrate with their guests – there were speeches, amazing food, a pretty special cake cutting (I mean, just look at that cake!) and then all the guests made their way downstairs to the grassed area below and filled the dance floor. A perfect end to a perfect day…
Aimee & Pete, thank you. You are both perfect for each other and it really was a true privilege to be a part of your journey to becoming husband & wife. I hope you love these photos as much as I loved taking them!
I’d love to hear what you think – leave me a comment below (it honestly will make my day!) and I’m sure the newlyweds would appreciate some kind words to:
