Not one to believe in love at first sight, Nicola was surprised when her eyes connected with Ryan’s when they were both out with friends back in 2012… her heart whispered that he was special. That he was a boy worth getting to know. So, when he approached her & her friends, she smiled. They ended up deep in conversation for hours that night – which was the start of a beautiful romance and friendship. Now, three years later, they are husband and wife… and both big believers in love at first sight.
I always ask my brides to keep an invitation spare so that I can photograph it on the morning of the wedding when I document all the other bridal details… I think it helps tell the complete wedding story. Most of my couples send me an invitation though (they are the sweetest!) so I always bring that along!! Ryan & Nicola’s was made by the talented team at Urban Weddings.
This portrait was taken in Nicola’s parents room where she dressed… the light coming through the window was just divine… Such a beautiful bride, wearing such a stunning lace dress by White Lily Couture!
Ryan & Nicola became husband and wife in the grand St Brigid’s Church in Red Hill. Interestingly this amazing church was funded by its parishioners back in 1912, who were encouraged to buy a brick at a time… and one by one, this church was built! Amazing. Her father walked her down the aisle… to her waiting husband to be, with tears of joy welling in his eyes.
After the group & family photos, we spent some time outside of Customs House, Brisbane for some bridal portraits. Tic Tac Tours & Premier Limousines provided the amazing classic wedding car, which saw the bridal party arrive in style!
Nicola’s gorgeous bridal bouquet was created with love by Cat from Woods & Bloom… I just adored the dark florals that were used, mixed in with whites & lighter shades, it was truly stunning.
The newlyweds entering their reception on the red carpet… Customs House is such a stunning venue for a wedding reception… and the staff were excellent! This vantage point was from a staff balcony up above the function room… I just loved being able to shoot from a different perspective and the staff were so accommodating when I asked them to wait by the sides as I took this photo!
Mr & Mrs Brown, I am so honoured that you trusted me to document your wedding day. It was even better than I could have imagined and I cannot wait to see what the future holds for you both as husband and wife! I hope you love the images as much as I loved taking them for you!
