Meeting a couple, learning their story and spending their Wedding Day right by their side is such a personal experience… one that I feel honoured to go through time & time again with my JFL couples. Last August when I first met up with Aaron & Naomi at Grill’d (yes, we bonded over burgers – is there really any better way!) and they shared with me their vision for their Wedding, I was instantly excited. I knew that not only would their Wedding Day be incredible, but as I got to know them better, I knew the journey during the 11 months leading up to their Wedding, would be just as incredible. Last Tuesday, as we sat chatting over Mexican – I reflected that I had been right. The fact that they took time out of their wedding preparations during the week before their Wedding to share a meal with Nick & I (when I’m sure their to do list was as big as the fajita I was eating) just shows you how much they value & care for those around them.
Aaron & Naomi, thank you. You are both perfect for each other and it really was a true privilege to be a part of your journey to becoming husband & wife. I hope you love these photos as much as I loved taking them!
Here’s a glimpse into their Wedding Day story that unfolded at Hillstone St Lucia last Saturday:
Naomi chose to get ready the morning of her Wedding Day surrounded by some of the women she loves most in this world – her nan, mum, aunty, cousin and her closest girlfriends – which only made the morning even more special! While they were getting ready, I started photographing some of her beautiful details…
After hair & makeup was complete, we had time for a few celebratory glasses of bubbles before it was time for Naomi to get dressed into her stunning Pronovias Wedding Dress!
I adore the ‘reveal’ moments a bride gets to share with her loved ones! I mean just look at the love & excitement on her Nan’s face when she first saw Naomi in her Wedding Gown! LOVE.
Meanwhile, the finishing touches were being put on their courtyard garden ceremony setup at the stunning Hillstone St Lucia. I know this is a big call guys, but I think this is my favourite wedding venue in Brisbane. Not only is it a photographers dream with plenty of options for photos and the prettiest of sunsets – but Hayley the coordinator is SO good to work with and really looks after each couple just like I do – she is honestly the best!
Before long it was time to get these two married! Just look at the smiles on their faces, they were so darn excited to become husband & wife!
After a lovely Ceremony (and epic rose petal exit) Aaron & Naomi were able to join their guests for some time at canapes! One of the benefits of not having a bridal party, means we need less time for the bridal portraits (a huge bonus if joining in on canapes is important to you!) I must say, we had some of the prettiest sunset winter light (between 4pm & 4:45pm) which made for the best photos!
As the sun started to set, it was time to make our way back to the Rosewood Room at Hillstone St Lucia for their Wedding Reception! Naomi is such a talented girl, designing all the paper goods you see at the wedding herself (from the invitation suite to the seating chart & place cards). I wish my handwriting looked as stunning as hers!
After they entered into their Reception, they were able to celebrate with their guests – there were speeches, amazing food, a pretty special cake cutting (I mean, just look at that cake from Vanilla Pod Speciality Cakes!) and then all the guests made their way downstairs to the Library Bar and filled the dance floor. A perfect end to a perfect day…
p.s I didn’t realise until Aaron told us (he was pretty excited about this!) but Hillstone St Lucia provide each couple & their guests with complimentary port for the evening on their Wedding – see you guys, they really are the best!
