I love hearing how my couples first meet and as time goes on, it’s interesting just how many paths cross thanks to social media! Ellie & Dan first met through an application on Facebook called ‘flirtable’… Dan made the first move with what seemed like a cheesy pickup line ‘your smile could light up a room’ BUT if you’ve met Ellie, you’d actually realise it’s the total truth! She has the most beautiful smile… and Dan certainly took notice. 9 years later, under a star filled sky, Dan asked Ellie to marry him – and the rest as they say, is history!
Dan & Ellie, thank you for trusting us to document your Wedding Day. It was such a beautiful day and we were honoured to be the ones recording it for the years to come… I especially love the thought of little Boston growing up and looking back through your photos – knowing that he was a part of the special day his mum promised forever to his dad! We love you both heaps and hope you have the very best time in Bali – drink all the cocktails, enjoy all the sunshine and get ready for an amazing future together as husband & wife! Lots of love, K & N xx
Here is a glimpse into their Wedding Day Story:
BRIDE PREP VENUE: OUTRIGGER BAY APARTMENTS, BYRON BAY
The morning for Ellie started at the Outrigger Bay Apartments in Byron Bay – there wasn’t a cloud in the sky for what was turning out to be the most perfect first day of Spring. Ellie got ready with her mum, 3 best friends – Kim, Kimbo & Sarah – and her gorgeous son, Boston. Like most of my JFL Brides, the morning was so much fun and so very relaxed – with good music, laughter and a sufficient amount of bubbles being poured…
After photographing Ellie’s gorgeous wedding day details, it was time for final makeup touches and to get dressed into her gorgeous Wedding dress!
BANGALOW WEDDING CEREMONY VENUE: BANGALOW SHOWGROUNDS
Dan spent time growing up in Bangalow, so it was only fitting that they wanted to hold their Wedding Ceremony in the beautiful Bangalow Showgrounds! As their guests started to arrive, Dan made his way to the front to wait for his bride… and their gorgeous little page boys almost stole the show – with little Boston in the middle holding a “Daddy here comes Mummy” sign. Oooh the feels!
Introducing Mr & Mrs Cook!
After a beautiful Ceremony, officiated by one of my favourites Michelle Shannon – and a quick group photo, it was time for their Bridal Portraits. Nick & I jumped in the car and stole the newlyweds off to a secret location (think random dirt road), where we could take advantage of that stunning view… sure, it might have taken us a little off road and required a little more trust than normal… BUT Dan & Ellie were totally up for it and I think we can all agree, it was SO SO worth it!
One thing I adore about Bangalow & Byron Bay, is the cute little spots you can find hidden away – like this organic cafe WOODS that made a super cute backdrop for some more photos. I always location scout before a Wedding and knew that it closed at 2:30pm, so the area was completely ours!
We then met the Bridal Party down by an unused railway line…
BANGALOW WEDDING RECEPTION VENUE: A & I HALL, BANGALOW
As the sun set on their Wedding Day, the newlyweds made their way back to the A & I Hall for their Wedding Reception… how beautiful does the hall look with that fairy light canopy!
After their entrance and some incredible food prepared by the team from 100 Mile Table, the night was filled with heartfelt speeches, laughter and lots & lots of memories being made…
perhaps majority of those happened on the dancefloor (especially after an espresso martini or two!)
A huge thanks to the following vendors for making Dan & Ellie’s Wedding Day as beautiful as it was:
