For most couples, the thought of it raining on their wedding day is enough to cause them a little – if not a lot – of stress. But not Danielle & Aidan. These two were just so excited to get married – there wasn’t anything that was going to change that! I’m always watching the weather forecast in the lead up to one of my JFL couples getting married, so when it was showing 90% chance of it raining, I started to plan. I location scouted at the State Library and GOMA here in Brisbane, finding some perfect undercover spots for the newlyweds to have their bridal portraits taken (and luckily their ceremony & reception was planned for indoors anyway!) It turned out better than even I was expecting, mostly thanks to the way these two handled it. Danielle & Aidan, thank you for trusting me to document your special day – I loved every rainy minute of it!
Here’s a glimpse into their incredible wet weather wedding:
They both got ready at the Central Dockside Apartments, in separate rooms of course. When I first arrived, I got busy photographing all Danielle’s pretty details, while her and her lovely sister Alicia, had their hair & makeup finished.
Before long it was time for Danielle to get dressed – how incredible is that Pronovias wedding gown? Those lace sleeves honestly left me speechless. Can I also just say how much I love that Danielle wore a crown! A true queen!
Meanwhile Aidan was also busy getting ready with his best mate, Lachlan. Urbbana really knocked it out the park with his suit – honestly, I think it was the best suit I’ve EVER seen (and you guys, I have seen a lot of suits!)
With them both ready to go, it was soon time for their ceremony at St Agatha’s in Clayfield. This church is just beautiful – white walls and stained glass windows are seriously a match made in heaven!
Gosh I love this photo of them walking back to the middle of the altar – and the sweet little whispers & giggles they shared during the service. So much love.
After a beautiful ceremony, it was time for their bridal portraits. Armed with a bunch of clear umbrellas and keeping one eye on the weather radar, I took them to all the spots I’d found a few days earlier… and they were just perfect!
Such a cool place for photos with your bridal party don’t you think! Thanks State Library!
I just adore that Danielle & Aidan had such a small bridal party – as much as I love the fun we have with larger ones, this was so much more relaxed – and logistically easier on a rainy day too!
I love making sure I can give my couples a variety of backdrops for their wedding photos – raining or not. This walkway was the perfect addition to Danielle & Aidan’s locations, giving us a little green pop with that vine! LOVE.
As the sun started to set, we made our way back to The Landing at Dockside for their Wedding Reception. The fairy lights were twinkling and the guests gathering, ready to celebrate with the newlyweds!
The night was filled with beautiful speeches, incredible food and lots & lots of dancing!
Congratulations again Danielle & Aidan… I’m so happy for you both and can’t wait to see what your future holds as husband & wife! Maybe more fur babies? (I saw how much they loved dogs during their Engagement Session!)
Reception Venue: The Landing at Dockside, Kangaroo Point
