I love meeting my couples for the first time and learning more about them & their relationship – often they will share with me details on how they met, how the proposal went down and what they hope for in their future as a married couple. When I first met Sam & Jaie and they shared with me that they first met online, but never shared that with their friends & family… I had to giggle. Nick & I met the exact same way but also kept that on the down low – but you know what? If Sam & Jaie’s love story is proof of what online dating can lead to – i’m proud to tell everyone that Nick & I met the same way! Sam & Jaie were married last Saturday at the stunning Hillstone St Lucia here in Brisbane… this was our first time photographing at this wedding venue and needless to say, I’m now excited to get back there! It was just beautiful – and just perfect for Sam & Jaie.
Mr & Mrs Whelan, thank you for trusting us to document your first day as husband & wife… it was full of so much joy, love & emotion – Nick & I loved spending it with you both & your friends and family! We hope you’re having the best time on your honeymoon in Europe (and hopefully you found some wifi for this little surprise to be seen!) We can’t wait to show you more when you return, all our love, xx
Here’s a glimpse into their Wedding Day story:
Sam & Jaie both got ready in their own apartments at The Meriton in Brisbane… with this stunning view as far as the eye could see. There was hardly a cloud in the sky, what a perfect winters day!
Gemma from Inspired By Love Events created the florals – that seriously took everyone’s breath away as soon as they arrived… they were one of the prettiest bouquets I have seen in a long time! Oh and isn’t that just the perfect place to hang Jaie’s gorgeous White Lily Couture gown, I honestly think that mirror was made for this shot!
Jaie spent the morning surrounded by 4 of her closest friends – Kasey, Danica, Sarah & Kelsey (all incredible hairdressers and the sweetest of girls) helping her relax & prepare for this day she has been dreaming of, for what I’m sure felt like a lifetime. They all enjoyed some bubbles & time with the bride to be, before it was time for her to get dressed into her wedding dress…
Jaie’s Maid of Honour, Kasey had the honour of helping her get dressed… Jaie was honestly a picture perfect bride – what a classic beauty!
Before we knew it, it was time for their Wedding Ceremony at Hillstone St Lucia! Being winter, Sam & Jaie chose to have a 2pm Ceremony which was just perfect… leaving plenty of time before the sunset for photos with their family, bridal party and with each other!
I just adore Sam’s expression here when he first laid eyes on his bride, Jaie – you can just feel the joy, love and pure excitement at the thought of becoming her husband!
Such a beautiful Ceremony led by Pastor Rick Brewer, in the Courtyard Garden…
Introducing Mr & Mrs Whelan!
After the Ceremony (group photo & family photos) it was time for their bridal portraits… we were able to use some of the gorgeous spots around Hillstone St Lucia with the bridal party and then whisked the newlyweds off on Golf Buggies to explore more of the course…
I just love the variety of backdrops Hillstone St Lucia has to offer… and it helped having a bridal party that was so on point!
This moment has to be one of my favourites… showing exactly what a Wedding Day should be – pure fun! And just look at the happiness on Sam’s face as he watches his new bride laugh… oh the feels.
As the sun set, it was time to make our way back to the Reception in the Rosewood Room, which had been styled by the oh so talented Gemma from Inspired By Love Events once again! Is there anything this girl cannot do… I just LOVED that arbour placed above the bridal table, what a beautiful burst of colour!
After Mr & Mrs Whelan entered their Wedding Reception, it was time for some heartfelt speeches (and heartfelt they were – there were so many tears shed during the night, even by the MC, it was just beautiful. Being an emotional gal myself, I honestly appreciated the emotion and heart behind every word!) Sam & Jaie cut their Wedding Cake and then danced the night away, with each other and their guests! The perfect end to a perfect day…
I must admit, I fell in love a little (ok… a lot) with Jaie’s grandparents on Saturday… Bob & Joan. They were just the sweetest – and I think reminded me a little of my late grandfather. When they started dancing together at the Reception, I may have shed my own tears behind the camera… what an example & legacy they have created for their families, it was just beautiful that they could share in this day with Sam & Jaie.
