My path first crossed with Jen in the wedding industry as she is a crazy talented baker who owns Petite Crumb. She made a delicious wedding cake for another JFL couple a few years ago. As a result, I had no idea that years later I would get an email from her asking me if I would document her very own Pullenvale Hall Wedding to Marty! I’m always so honoured when a couple trusts me to photograph their wedding but when it’s someone in the wedding industry, that sees the work from many different photographers every weekend – I was left a little speechless (which doesn’t happen often!)
Their Pullenvale Hall wedding day was nothing short of incredible, here’s a little peek:
I asked Jen to share a little bit with us about her wedding, here’s what she had to say:
Tell us a little bit about your day?
We held both our ceremony and reception in an old hall in Pullenvale. It was special to us as I grew up there and we didn’t want our wedding to be too formal. One of my old school friends even flew from Melbourne to sing during our ceremony. We opted for a stand up style reception so that everyone could mingle and it was more of a party! We had our favourite food (Three Girls Skipping) our favourite dessert (Lick Icecream) and I made the cake, of course! The day went off without a hitch thanks to our great team of suppliers! It really was a great celebration…
What was your fave part or moment on your wedding day?
The moment when we were introduced for the first time as Mr and Mrs Lippiatt!
Do you have any words of wisdom or tips for future couples?
Plan a wedding that is about you and what you love, not about what you see on Pinterest – oh and invest in a good photographer AND videographer because the day goes by so so quickly!
You guys, I know I’m a little biased but I honestly think that this is the best advice!!
I am a little obsessed with tennis courts at the moment and this one made for a beautiful dress photo don’t you think!
Marty & Jen’s fur babies, Axle & Bane had to be included of course…
Setting a new benchmark for my JFL grooms, Marty had folded his letter for Jen into a paper crane… guys, you seriously have to lift your letter game – placing it into an envelope will no longer do!
WEDDING CEREMONY VENUE: PULLENVALE HALL, BRISBANE
After a relaxed start to the day, Jen & her girls made their way to Pullenvale Hall. This country hall is beautiful and made the perfect backdrop for Marty & Jen’s wedding ceremony – they were able to personalise it with a lovely backdrop, florals, white draping fabric & fairy lights… making it their own.
The big moment…. gosh, I just love the happiness on Marty’s face as he watches Jen walk towards him!
Introducing Mr & Mrs Lippiatt!
After a beautiful ceremony, we took the newlyweds & their bridal party off for their bridal portraits. I must admit, I was pretty excited. Not only was this the best bunch of people, all looking mighty fine – we also had the prettiest golden afternoon light that I think I’ve seen all year!
WEDDING RECEPTION VENUE: PULLENVALE HALL, BRISBANE
Marty & Jen wanted to be able to enjoy every minute they could with their guests, minglings and sipping on incredible Ink Gin (you guys, if you know me, you’ll know I’m a MASSIVE fan of Ink Gin! I was super impressed!) They hosted their reception under the festoon lights outside and reserved the inside of the hall for the formalities & dancing… it honestly worked a treat!
I LOVE that Jen & Marty wanted to do a cake smash… I mean, why not! It’s at the end of the day anyway and it’s oh so much fun!
Jen & Marty, thank you. Thank you for trusting me to document your first day as husband & wife. It was just as incredible as I knew it would be and perfect for such an amazing couple… here’s to an amazing married life together. Love Kylie xx
