I’ve never been a huge fan of fast food – I mean I get the whole convenience thing but we didn’t have it much as a kid (we lived on acreage out of town and mum would never let us!) so when it comes to dinner options, it just never comes to mind (the exception being pizza of course!) BUT after meeting Brock + Katie, I totally get why they have a soft spot for KFC. You see, years ago now, they first met through their jobs at their local KFC – Brock even using the need to “check his shifts” as an excuse to get Katie’s mobile number. Needless to say, I think KFC will always mean more to them than just an easy – and delicious – dinner of fried chicken!
Last Friday I was lucky enough to document their first day as husband and wife… and wow, even with crazy thunderstorms, there was no raining on their parade!
Here’s a glimpse into Katie + Brock’s beautiful Moda Events wedding day:
Most of Katie’s family are from Victoria, so she spent the morning getting ready at a beautiful AirBnB with her lovely family (and bridesmaids) around her! As soon as I arrived, I got started photographing her beautiful details:
Her niece Libby made the most beautiful flower girl (alongside her handsome brother Eddie) – Libby just loved her princess dress and flower crown!
Before long it was time for Katie to get dressed into her stunning wedding dress by Jack Sullivan Bridal – my goodness, she was just a vision!

Watching the weather forecast, the team at Moda Events decided it would be best to hold their Ceremony indoors – and luckily they have a beautiful wet weather plan for all their couples.
The moment everyone had been waiting for – especially Brock:
After a beautiful Ceremony, officiated by friend & JFL recommended vendor, James McLauchlan – it was time for their bridal portraits. Taking the weather into consideration, we decided to take some romantic, misty photos first and my goodness, I’m glad we did. I’m a little bit in love with these two and the photos we got during the storm!
While we waited for a break in the rain, I took the bridal party into the Alcyone Foyer (which is where Katie & Brock were staying that night) and kept the bridal party dry with some relaxed, editorial photos…
before we were able to make our way outside for some more portraits!
Katie really wanted some photos with greenery as the backdrop, so I’m SUPER happy that we got to make it outdoors during a break in the storm (would you believe it started up again shortly afterwards and rained all night! Thank you for this answered prayer weather gods!)
Before we knew it, it was time for the newlyweds to enter their Reception and celebrate their nuptials with all of their friends & family! The night was filled with heartfelt speeches, incredible food, laughter and a whole lot of dancing, thanks to the Hamilton Band!
Katie’s parents added a slideshow of images into their speech which was just beautiful…
Congratulations again Brock & Katie! It meant the world to me to be the one to document your wedding day last Friday – thank you for being such an amazing JFL couple. I hope you have the best time in Fiji (bula bula) and I can’t wait to hear all about it when you get home! Lots of love, Kylie xx
