I believe as a wedding photographer, I need to constantly be evolving, growing and becoming more & more creative. To remain the best I can be, I need to source out new venues, work with new vendors and play with new techniques, so that I can introduce my JFL couples to the best people in the industry and deliver them with the best images I can from one of the most pivotal days of their lives. One way in which I chose to do that is through inspiration shoots – plus, they are seriously like play time for me!
A few weeks ago I travelled down to the Hunter Valley for some engagement sessions – but while I was there, I connected with the lovely team at Spicers Vineyards Estate to create a little bit of wedding magic. When I landed in Newcastle, I was greeted by gale force winds, dust storms and a bushfire – and yet, we still managed to take photos that I am SO proud of. Testament to the fact that regardless of what might happen on your wedding day, I’ve got your back.
Here’s a peek into the photos we created that afternoon:
Spicers Vineyards Estate is a stunning property in the Hunter Valley – they have the most beautiful grounds, lush and green with a very healthy crop of vines at the front of the world class Restaurant Botanica.
They also have this eye catching timber barn that I had spotted online and was dying to use for some bridal portraits. Full disclaimer: this is actually their maintenance shed! How funny that something so practical could also be so beautiful and make perfect wedding photos…
The talented – and super lovely – florist that I was working with – Catherine from Ivy Trail Events – created not only a stunning bouquet for our bride but also the most incredible floral pocket square for our groom!! You guys, this needs to become a new trend in 2019! It is SO much better than the traditional fabric pocket squares that always fall out of place.
After we had finished at the barn, I took our gorgeous couple to play with the pretty light out the front of the restaurant… gosh, I just love the light at this time of the day, the hours before sunset are just so super dreamy!
… and then we made our way into the vines…
We finished up on the driveway of this stunning property – I just adored the silk skirt of the couture bridal gown from Begitta and one of the positives of it being so windy, is that we could play with a lot of movement in the silk. LOVE.
I’d just like to take this opportunity to thank all the amazing vendors that helped bring this inspiration to life! I’m constantly in awe of the incredible & generous people I get to work with each & every weekend and I couldn’t do it without them. From my heart to yours, thank you. Love, Kylie xx
